Welcome to Denmark

So I was in Denmark for my birthday (awww) and of course I loved it.

Although Denmark is famous for her pastries I won't be sharing photos of my meals in this post . I just thought I would keep this for instagram.

I first stayed in Aalborg (a bit of repping!), a nice city located in North Jutland and I was glad I bumped into one of my favorite muralists El Mac who completed this stunning piece titled 'Our Lady of Aalborg'.

Check out El Mac's blog for more info on this mural.

The artist was in town for his solo show at the Galerie Wolfsen. While I was there I also spotted this impressive piece by artist REKA on the wall of the Gallery.

This one was not far from the Gallery where I also found some dope graffitis.

Danish artist Morten Andersen also left his mark on one of the walls of the Gallery.

Another masterpiece by El Mac titled the 'Purity of Heart' triptych. As explained on the artist's postThe title of this triptych comes from the popular book by Søren Kierkegaard, Purity of Heart Is to Will One Thing.

"A Providence watches over each man’s wandering through life. It provides him with two guides. The one calls him forward. The other calls him back. They are, however, not in opposition to each other, these two guides, nor do they leave the wanderer standing there in doubt, confused by the double call. Rather the two are in eternal understanding with each other. For the one beckons forward to the Good, the other calls man back from evil. Nor are they blind guides. Just for that reason there are two of them. For in order to make the journey secure, they must look both forward and backward."

Here is the central piece on the left of this triptych, unfortunately I couldn't get a better shot.

Although I promised earlier I won't be sharing #foodporn pics here, I could not resist to post some tourist shots.

Lindholm Høje (Lindholm Hills, from Old Norse haugr, hill or mound) is a major Viking burial site and former settlement situated to the north of and overlooking the city of Aalborg in DenmarkThank you Wikipedia

Here is a nice piece by French sculptor and painter Niki de Saint Phalle spotted at the Kunsten Museum of modern art.

If you are still reading at this stage, I would like to thank you!

Now moving on to Copenhagen. This is Nyhavn (Danish pronunciation: [ˈnyhÉ‘ÊŠ̯Ë€n]) (literally: New Harbour) is a 17th-century waterfront, canal and entertainment district in CopenhagenDenmark. Stretching from Kongens Nytorv to the harbour front just south of the Royal Playhouse, it is lined by brightly coloured 17th and early 18th century townhouses and bars, cafes and restaurants. Serving as a "heritage harbour", the canal has many historical wooden ships.

Cheers Wikipedia!

Not far from Nyhavn I wandered around Christiania which was created in the 70s in a squatted military area.
Here is another El Mac's pieces, 2007.

Here is a fantastic mural by Aryz and ROA spotted in Valby, Copenhagen.

Last shot ... Mural by Shepard Fairey in Nørrebro.
